Winter in Montana

Montana 2019

By researching and finding affordable ski destinations, I have been able to travel to new places and experience different cultures by enjoying my favorite winter sport. Montana is one of those places. I was able to score relatively inexpensive flights from Newark to Bozeman and then I found The Wilson Hotel, a Residence Inn, located in Big Sky. Using points for our stay made this vacation very affordable. But before we checked in, we drove an hour south to explore Northern Yellowstone in Wyoming.

When we arrived in Big Sky I quickly determined this would be my favorite ski location. When it is cold and you sit on a heated seat, it is life changing.

Big Sky is massive and not overcrowded like resorts in Colorado and California. I was in heaven!

There were a few things I purchased for this trip that I would highly recommend. First, I purchased my own helmet. If you are a bit of a germaphobe like me, it is reassuring to use your own. In addition, it has pockets where you can insert special earphones that will pair with your phone. You can take a phone call or listen to music. The other thing I purchased (and I keep purchasing different variations) are electric handwarmers. I use them all the time, even when I’m not skiing. Just beware, they do break if you drop them!

I found Montana to absolutely be The Treasure State, and not just for their gold and silver mines! I can’t wait to return in the summer so I can explore Glacier National Park, something you can’t do in the winter.
