Maine – 4th of July 2009
Shortly after I got married, my husband and I flew up to Portland, Maine for a long weekend and drove to Bar Harbor. I’m pretty sure I had lobster every night of that trip. It tasted different than what I have had before and it was SO much less expensive. Pro trip: don’t order the whole lobster or you will sped a lot of time cracking it.
Bar Harbor was a pretty town but it was much colder than I expected for July.
We went whale watching and had to purchase heavy sweatshirts at the last minute. Luckily the blue sky appeared, just as the boat came across some huge fin whales (or grey whales?). If you go out on the water, consider taking a decent sweatshirt. I’m a big fan of North Face and will never travel without a warm sweatshirt again!
We also had the opportunity to drive around Arcadia National Park. There were beautiful vistas and plenty of quaint lighthouses to see. With all of the rocks jutting out, you can see why they are necessary. The park is filled with a variety of white pines, unsurprising since it is The Pine Tree State. Definitely worth the time!
