Oklahoma 2021
This Covid family road trip began in Oklahoma City. We visited the Oklahoma City memorial which was really well done. We didn’t have much time, but even the outside portion is worth the time. We also went to the life-size land run monument which was very cool and pays tribute to the excitement of 1889. It’s a great place and style to give the kids a little history. Oklahoma is The Sooner State, named after the Sooners who jumped the gun at the beginning of the land runs.
We also bought cowboy boots in Oklahoma. Felt appropriate! You can get similar from a legit brand called Dan Post.
Next we drove to Tulsa where we stopped at “the center of the universe”. It is an acoustic phenomenon where if you stand in the center of the circle, any noise you make will be amplified. I recently watch the TV show called “Tulsa” and loved that Sylvester Stallone went to the same place. We then visited Black Wall Street, another good place to go for history. Unfortunately this is not a story I learned in school, but it is something that should be talked about. Race is such a sensitive issue, but if we can learn the roots of anger on both sides, maybe we can overcome it.
Leaving Oklahoma, we drove into Arkansas.
